Things you should never eat
Eat bad cheap food can cost your own life.
Scientists issue heart warning on fat content of doner kebabs
Scientists have found that the food contains up to the equivalent of a wine glass of cooking oil. One of the kebabs tested contained 140g of fat, twice the maximum daily allowance for women. Another contained 111g. Nutritionists said eating two a week could cause a heart attack within 10 years.
Food scientists from Hampshire county council tested the fat, salt and trans fat content of popular takeaway food, including Chinese and Indian meals, pizzas, kebabs and fish and chips. They found many of the dishes contained an entire day's fat in one meal. But by far the worst offender was the doner kebab.
Trans fat, which contributes to coronary heart disease by raising levels of "bad" cholesterol and lowering levels of "good" cholesterol, was found in all the kebabs tested. There is no UK legislation on trans fat in food, but health authorities recommend that consumption should be restricted to trace amounts and the only European standard, the Danish food act, stipulates no more than 5% trans fat in food. Sixty per cent of kebabs contained more than 5%, while the other meals were below the Danish benchmark.
The least fatty takeaway food was found to be Chinese char sui or barbequed pork, but shish kebab also scored low in fat.
The best in terms of low salt content was fish and chips.
Denise Thomas, head of nutrition and dietetics at Portsmouth Hospitals Trust, said that 111g of fat in a kebab was 1,000 calories, the equivalent of a wine glass of cooking oil. "The majority of that fat is saturated, so it's going to raise your cholesterol and give you thickening of your arteries," she said. "If you were eating that meal twice a week on top of your ordinary diet, it's a ticking time bomb of coronary heart disease."
The effect of eating doner kebabs was dependent on the rest of a person's diet. "If you eat lots of fruit and vegetables the rest of the time, it's not going to be a problem. But if you're eating pie and chips and fried breakfasts as well, you're heading towards a heart attack within 10 years.
Chinese food can be high in sodium, sugar, and trans fats
General Tso's chicken and other Chinese dishes are often loaded with sodium, sugar, and trans fats. Some specialties also contain monosodium glutamate (MSG), a potentially harmful food additive (via the Mayo Clinic). Any of these ingredients can harm your health when consumed in excess.
High-sodium diets, for example, may increase your risk of stroke, heart failure, kidney stones, and stomach cancer, warns the American Heart Association (AHA). Excess sodium also raises blood pressure, which may lead to cardiovascular problems in the long run. AHA recommends no more than 1,500 milligrams per day for optimal heart health. A single tablespoon of soy sauce provides 880 milligrams of sodium — that's more than half the maximum daily salt intake (per MyFoodData).
Chinese chefs also use a lot of sugar as a spice. Sweet and sour chicken, for instance, contains about 39 grams of carbs, including 19 grams of sugar, per serving (5.8 ounces), according to MyFoodData. On top of that, many foods are fried or cooked with large amounts of oil and high-fat sauces.
HOW BAD IS EATING SOMETHING CALL PIZZA BUT IS NOT A PIZZA

Domino’s is one of the most widely recognized pizza delivery chains in the world.
To get an idea of the overall nutrition of Domino’s, we can evaluate one slice of large cheese pizza, which is typically the base for all other pizzas. One hand tossed slice includes 290 calories, 11 grams of fat, 25 milligrams of cholesterol, and 640 milligrams of sodium.
The calories in a slice of cheese pizza make up about 15% of your daily recommended caloric intake. Americans should consume approximately 44 to 78 grams of fat per day, meaning Domino’s will provide about 14% to 25% of your daily-recommended intake, with just one slice. Healthy adults should not consume more than 300 milligrams of cholesterol per day, and one slice would include 8% of that value. Sodium makes the biggest impact, providing about 28% of your 2,300 milligram per day limit.
A diet that is high in sodium puts you at significant risk for conditions like high blood pressure, heart attack, or stroke. Indulging in more than one slice of Domino’s pizza frequently can easily cause obesity or cardiovascular related conditions.
It is important to note that these values do not include additional toppings like meat and veggies, which will also increase calories, fat, cholesterol, and sodium. Likewise, these values do not include sides, dipping sauces, desserts, or beverages included with your meal. When consuming Domino’s, it is wise to indulge in only one or two pieces that have minimal toppings. Stay away from options that have a lot of meat toppings or extra cheese, as these will make the most impact.
Gluten is another ingredient found in traditional pizza that poses a risk to the body. Celiac disease, an auto-immune disorder centered around the gut, adversely affects the way the body absorbs and processes food. Other non-celiac gluten sensitivities may still occur, and severe cases may include irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and fibromyalgia. Domino’s offers gluten-free pizza, and has the following disclaimer on their website:
“Domino's pizza made with a Gluten Free Crust is prepared in a common kitchen with the risk of gluten exposure. Therefore, Domino's DOES NOT recommend this pizza for customers with celiac disease. Customers with gluten sensitivities should exercise judgment in consuming this pizza.”
Dominos Pizza Dough ingredients
Domino's Pizza base is made of ingredients like Wheat Flour, Water, Rapeseed Oil, Sugar, Salt, Stabiliser: E481, Whey Powder (Milk),Sunflower Oil, Bakery Enzyme, Antioxidant: Ascorbic Acid, Flour Treatment Agent: E920, Yeast.
Above the pizza all we have is a thick layer of cheese (really bad for weight watchers). The vegetable toppings are generally good for health.
The shock revelations were aired in BBC One's The Truth About Takeaways.
In Thursday's show, journalist Nikki Fox was trying to suss out what exactly takeaway food does to our bodies.
The research revolved around a "groundbreaking experiment with scientists at Liverpool John Moores University and Imperial College London".
Fifteen volunteers ate two takeaways every day for a fortnight - including fish and chips, pizza, Indian and Chinese meals.
When they weren't busy eating, the volunteers were undergoing a number of tests, to gauge blood sugar levels and body fat to gut bacteria, mental wellbeing and cognitive sharpness.
Participants found they were soon struggling with poor sleep, feeling sluggish and reported lacking motivation to carry out their normal, everyday tasks.
The impact of a takeaway-heavy diet also left the volunteers made the majority gain weight.

But viewers were left reeling to learn that a Domino's stuffed-crust pizza contains a whopping 1,900 calories.
That's vastly more than the 500 calories in a KFC snack box.
A portion of fish and chips contains 927 calories and 45g of fat, compared to 1,100 calories and 60g in a doner kebab from a high street takeaway.
A Big Mac and fries from McDonald's contains 780 calories and 39g of fat, considerably less than the 1,810 calories in a chicken korma, rice and naan.
Dr Ian Davies, nutritional science expert, who led the experiment, said that pizzas are the "worst" takeaway for your health.
11 Ways Pizza is Different in Italy vs America
First, there is the experience of eating pizza itself. Eating pizza in Italy is very different than eating pizza in American. Especially for Americans who primarily eat pizza at home, fresh out of a black, blue, or red delivery bad. There are 11 things Americans coming to Italy for the first time should know before eating pizza Napoletana.
-
Italians love wine, but with pizza they drink beer. Order “Una birra media” in Italy with pizza.
-
One person, one pizza. That’s it. No small, medium, or large. Everyone gets their own.
-
He who makes pizza is a Pizzaiolo. A good Pizzaiolo is a valued, respected, craftsman.
-
In Italy an Enoteca Ristorante Pizzeria lives or dies by the quality of its pizza Margherita, the one true pizza. Just dough, tomatoes, mozzarella, olive oil, and basil. That’s it. There are no toppings to hide behind. Always judge an Enoteca Ristorante Pizzeria by its pizza Margherita first, then move on to try other pizzas.
-
In Italy different pizzas all have names. Like Margherita or Diavola which is the closest thing to pepperoni pizza in Italy.
-
Don’t expect to pick and choose ingredients to personalize your pie. Don’t ask for substitutions. Order pizza by its proper name and respect the craft!
-
In Italy, pizza does not come pre-sliced. It needs to be tackled with a fork and knife.
-
Speaking of fork and knife, pizza is not eaten by hand in Italy. How rude! Kidding…
-
Using a fork and knife to eat pizza in Italy is necessary because the most famous type of pizza the Napoletana has a soft dough that is slick with sauce and cheese. Everything sort of melts together into a heavenly pillow of deliciousness. Eating pizza by hand in Italy is just too messy.
-
Even though pizza is revered it’s still the fast food of Italy because it’s quick and relatively cheap. A pizza made with high-quality ingredients, a beer, coffee, and a small desert runs around 8€ – 10€.
-
Most Italians don’t make pizza at home. It’s too cheap, good and easy in restaurants. Plus Italian home kitchens are typically not very big and their ovens are frequently tiny.
Most of what’s described here, is the experience of eating a pizza Napoletana arguably the most famous variety of Italian pizza. La pizza Napoletana which comes from… you guessed it, Napoli is so freakin’ good it’s protected by a Traditional Specialty Guaranteed (TSG) certification. That’s right it’s a certifiably good pizza! To top it all off in 2017 making pizza Napoletana was added to the UNESCO list of intangible cultural heritage! In other words, making pizza Napoletana is a culturally recognized art form in Italy.
Which brings us to the next major difference between pizza in Italy vs America, how it’s made.
Americans and Kebab should never ever use our PIZZA name in their dishes as either are PIZZA.
Pizza requires to be cooked in very high temperatures and must be thin.
(Thick pizza is not pizza, it is bread with cheese. Americans created this type of pizza after the misery created by the first and second war, so the whole family could be fed by eating just one pizza.
Eating unhealthy food is the same or even worse than smoking cigarettes and if you do both definitely you will have very bad health consequences in later life span.
PIZZA never ever uses any type of sauce beside tomato sauce, never ever adds mayonnaise, ketchup, garlic sauce, mustard or barbecue sauce.
